In an industry such as large utilities where the stewardship could be characterized as “male, pale and stale” there may not be a great deal of incentive to think and lead differently. Unless, that is, environmental factors like badly aging infrastructure, regulatory obligations, and an infusion of new blood as the next generation of leaders forces you to look at what you’ve done for the past several decades differently.
